Family Friendly Activities in Buena Park

December 28, 2016 //  by Chrystal Johnson

Are you planning a family vacation to Buena Park, CA? There are so many family friendly activities in Buena Park you many not have heard of!

I know a lot of families plan a trip to Buena Park solely to visit Knott’s Berry Farm. But did you know there are plenty of other family friendly activities in Buena Park and surrounding areas?

While we have only visited a few of the attractions so far, others are on our list of places to visit next time we travel to Buena Park. You just might be surprised by the number of family friendly activities in Buena Park.

Knott’s Berry Farm

This is our second year in a row visiting Knott’s Berry Farm during Knott’s Merry Farm. Read about our first trip and our second trip. It’s a really fun amusement park that has rides for kids of all ages and adults too.

Pirate’s Dinner Adventure

Dinner and a great show is what you’ll get at Pirate’s Dinner Adventure. Out of our whole trip to Buena Park, I think our family had the most fun at Pirate’s Dinner Adventure!

It’s a super interactive show that gets the kids and the adults involved in the show itself. So you won’t sit there wishing the show would be over soon. You’ll be glad you visited this attraction!

Medieval Times

Medieval Times is another fun dinner show in Buena Park, CA. Rather than a Pirate theme like Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, it has more of a knights and jousting theme.

While we had a blast on our last trip to Medieval Times, our family had more fun at Pirate’s Dinner Adventure.

John’s Incredible Pizza

We visited John’s Incredible Pizza for dinner and games one night during our visit to Buena Park. It was about a mile from our hotel, so we drove there.

The food is a buffet, and has all of the standard buffet food like pizza, pasta, soup, salad and desserts. The pizza was pretty good and there was a good selection at the salad bar.

The rest of John’s Incredible Pizza is a huge arcade. The only way to gain access to the arcade is to buy a buffet pass. Just be prepared because if you don’t set a budget, you’ll likely spend more on the games that you intended.

It’s pretty easy to keep your kids on budget though because you load the money they’re allowed to spend on a card. Then they use that card to play the games they want to play. When the card is out of money, it’s time to go.

It’s a fun place to stop in, but it won’t take up a ton of time so it’s a great idea for a weekday lunch or dinner.

Big Air Trampoline

We were very much looking forward to visiting Big Air Trampoline Park. During non-winter months, we have a trampoline in our front yard where the girls can practice their snowboarding tricks. Since ours is packed away, they were really looking forward to visiting Big Air Trampoline.

Unfortunately, the hours listed for Big Air Trampoline were incorrect on Google and their website wasn’t up to date when I had checked it two days earlier. So they were closed when we arrived. We didn’t have any other time set aside in our schedule so we didn’t get to experience this family friendly activity in Buena Park.

Maybe next time!

Aquarium of the Pacific

We love visiting aquariums when we travel. Aquarium of the Pacific is located in Long Beach, CA – just a short drive from Buena Park. It’s a really fun half day activity. The girls and I went last year and had fun.

There are lots of great aquarium exhibits and a nice outdoor area too where the kids can burn off energy. It’s a nice aquarium and I highly recommend a visit next time you’re in Southern California.

Whale Watching with Newport Whales

I think next time we visit Buena Park, we need to stay for a week because there’s so much to do. One day soon I’d love to take the girls whale watching. One local company that offers whale watching is Newport Whales.

Discovery Cube

I love museums that make science fun. Discovery Cube Orange County looks like so much fun! It seems like it might be similar to the Ruben H Fleet Science Museum in San Diego, which we love!

Pretend City Children’s Museum

Another one of my favorite types of museums to visit with the girls are Children’s museums. There are always so many fun interactive exhibits! We had a blast visiting the San Diego Children’s Museum, so I have a feeling that Pretend City Orange County would be a blast too.

More Family Friendly Activities on Visit Buena Park

I know these are only a handful of the great family friendly activities in Buena Park and the surrounding Orange County areas. It’s a great area for families to plan a vacation!
