Rail Jamming and Homeschooling

February 22, 2018 //  by Brian Johnson

The past week and a half has been super exciting and we’ve had lots of fun.

Little Miss Kaylee turned 8 last Wednesday on February 14th; yes, she’s a Valentine’s Day baby.

Kaylee on her 8th birthday

On Kaylee’s birthday we did what she wanted to do… and that was have a massive breakfast of homemade blueberry pancakes and bacon.

The original plan was for us to… wait for it… go snowboarding together as a family. Zoë was under the weather so Kaylee decided she wanted to go crystal shopping and have a movie marathon after. There are a couple of little crystal shops here in the Village which we frequent together as a family.

We topped the night off with homemade shrimp fettucini alfredo for dinner and homemade German chocolate cake with Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip ice creams for dessert, all by request of Kaylee. We had an awesome day together as a family and Kaylee said “it was my best birthday ever.” Win win all around.

We have had friends staying at the house every weekend for the past 2 weeks and even more friends staying this weekend. So lots of fun kids everywhere. The girls have been having a blast.

Riding at the mountain last week we prepared for our Sunday Feb. 18th evening Rail Jam at Bear Mountain. It was so much fun. The girls had an absolute blast riding with their friends.

One of the things I love about USASA and Team Bear Freestyle is it gives the girls an opportunity to ride with and make friends with other kids their age who can actually ride, keep up and they all challenge each other and have fun together.

Both girls competed in the 9 and under bracket…

One of our awesome team parents took these 2 photos of Zoë below during the competition.

Kaylee took 4th place… below Reese took Gold, Zoë took Silver and Kaylee Rose took Bronze… All of the 9 and under girls competed their hearts out and did awesome.

At the awards ceremony, Kaylee’s friend Kaylee Rose (above) brought Kaylee some birthday presents. Orion and Sion got Kaylee a gift card… And the rest of her friends showered her with love and positive vibes. All of the kids had tons of fun running around and playing. There’s so much friendship and positivity in the SoCal USASA Series, it’s awesome.

Zoë and Kaylee now have their own Instagram Account… If you haven’t followed them yet, check them out here: Zoë and Kaylee Johnson Instagram

There are some other amazing kids in the SoCal USASA Series to follow too… be sure to check out all of their Instagram’s too!!!

Zoë and Kaylee have been having a blast riding on the mountain. And we’ve been having a massive amount of fun doing schoolwork. Homeschooling is so much fun.

Today is Thursday… Monday through yesterday both girls have had a cold. In spite of cold temps and some fresh snow we’ve stayed in by the fire for the past few days to rest and get better. We’ve done tons of schoolwork. From Typing to English, Spanish, Math, History, Science, Art, Reading, Music and we learned about Ferris Wheels… the girls are having a blast.

“Thank you Kaylee Rose for the awesome Ferris Wheel set!!!” -Kaylee

This upcoming weekend at Bear Mountain Zoë and Kaylee have Boardercross, the following weekend they have Halfpipe also at Bear.

They are super stoked for March 17th. They have a Boardercross and Halfpipe Competion at Bear Mountain called Supergirl Pro.

Supergirl Pro is an all girls competion which is put on by Lindsey Jacobellis and Hannah Teter (both are Olympians)… YouTube them if you don’t know who they are. Even if you do know who they are, YouTube them because they’re super fun and amazing to watch.

We’ll give some updates and new videos next week!!!

And be sure to follow Zoë and Kaylee on Instagram here.
