Pregnancy weight gain is a sensitive topic for most women… I know it is for me. I gained 61 pounds when I was pregnant with my first daughter! Yikes. And I was 15-20 pounds over my ideal weight when I got pregnant.
With the current recommendations being 25-35 pounds for an average woman, I was way over the limit. I can’t tell you how many times I heard, “Are you sure you aren’t having twins?” Grrr…
But, I lost it all in 9 months (9 months on, 9 months off, right?). So when I got pregnant this time, I tried not to worry too much about how much weight I was going to put on.
And really, try is the operative word here. I have been weighing myself obsessively. The funny thing is, I haven’t had much concern for how much I’m eating (or what I’m eating right now for that matter). I eat when I’m hungry, and I indulge my sweet cravings when I get them. It keeps me smiling ☺
But, I am a lot more active this time around. After all, I have a 17-month-old toddler I have to keep up with. And, since we’re living in the city rather than the burbs now, I walk everywhere. Lots of great exercise.
I’m 24 weeks today. And guess what, I’ve only gained 10 pounds so far. Yah for me! I think I was already up 25-30 pounds at this point with my first. So I’m on track to hit that coveted 25-35 pound weight gain marker. How about that?
