The Idiosyncrasies of Language Development

January 15, 2010 //  by Chrystal Johnson

I love watching Zoë as her language development progresses. She’s saying new words every day, and trying her best to repeat words that we say to her.

She’s constantly talking… sometimes it’s a whole lot of gibberish… sometimes it makes perfect sense. But, one of the cutest things that she has been doing lately is making nearly every word plural, like:

  • Bye-byes
  • Night-nights
  • Bee-bees (binkies)
  • Cuppies
  • Blankies
  • Babies
  • Kay-uhs (Kaylees)
  • Moo-ees (movies)

I know this stage won’t last long, and soon she’ll be forming sentences and telling me exactly what’s on her mind (I already know we have a princess in the making). So, I’m trying to soak up every minute of this phase and appreciate these precious moments we’ll never have again.
