I know there is a huge debate in the natural parenting community about Santa. Most natural parenting families don’t “do” Santa. It was something Brian and I discussed in depth last year, and we decided we wanted our kids to have that experience.
For me, believing in Santa as a child was a such a magical thing that I believed long after my friends stopped believing, even though there were so many things that told me otherwise! I wanted to believe in the magic.
Santa isn’t just about getting a bunch of presents. It’s a magical thing that happens one time a year that brings a family together. Something that causes us to stop, and spend a day sharing with each other. And I cherish that.
So this year we finally got to take Zoë and Kaylee to meet Santa. Last year, it didn’t work out as Santa is only in town on Saturdays and Sundays. And they didn’t even have a Santa to visit when we lived in Uruguay!
Zoë went right up and sat in Santa’s lap. Kaylee was curious, but wanted mommy to hold her the whole time. Here is a cute video Brian shot of the girls’ first visit with Santa, and a few pictures.
